Rachel Harakles
Kindergarten & Physical Education
Mrs. Harakles teaches kindergarten and physical education.  She has been the kindergarten teacher for The Master’s House for 2 years and the physical education teacher for 5 years.  She loves to teach our students about God’s love and help fill them with a desire to achieve His Great Commission.  She teaches the A Beka kindergarten curriculum, based on “sound scholarship, common sense, and the Word of God.”  Mrs. Harakles has 3 children who are all students at The Master’s House.  She is an avid runner and coaches Running Club, with 24 student members at the end of its 2008 season.  Mrs. Harakles has directed the Christmas musicals for the school for the past 3 years and has taught various electives.  Mrs. Harakles is also one of the providers in the school’s Aftercare program.

Sandra Hayes
1st & 2nd Grades
Ms. Hayes was called to The Master’s house in 2005 and taught 1st grade for three years.  This 2008-2009 school year she has taught a combined class of grades 1 and 2 and is looking forward to those same grades in the 2009-2010 school year.  She is a graduate of Westbrook College with a major in English and a minor in Humanities.  In addition to The Master’s House, she taught at Master’s Design, a small missions outreach school on Munjoy Hill in Portland, teaching students in grades K-12.  It was the only school of its kind to minister to low-income families in Portland who desired a Christian education for their children.

Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 1:6, “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will be faithful to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”  It gives a fresh daily perfpective on her life as well as for the children entrusted to her.

Miss Hayes has two grown children–a son and a daughter–as well as a 2-year old grandson.  Her passions are “watching the workings of a child’s mind,” the beach, walking, reading, good movies, and time with her daughter, grandson, and godchild.
